Novosibirsk engineers promote their electric scooter in the West
The company Zeit Eco, created in Novosibirsk by engineer Andrei Doroshkov and his business partner Ilya Shorstov, has started to raise money in the West for industrial production of their compact electric scooter Zeit Eco, Sib.fm's correspondent learned on 9 April.
The partners started fundraising for production of their electric scooter on the popular crowdfunding website Kickstarter on 2 April.
The Zeit Eco can reach speeds up to 24 km/h (speed artificially limited) and covers 25-40 kilometres on a standard charge. Range can be extended up to 120km with an optional extra. At the same time, the scooter only weighs around 18kg. According to the fundraising page, the engineers used a 250-350 watt engine and a lithium-iron-phosphate battery. The intended price of the scooter is not specified.
The electroscooter can be charged from a standard power outlet and the engineers estimate the cost of one journey on it to be five cents.
The scooter is equipped with LED headlamps, a USB port for charging gadgets and a small glove compartment. The colour of the scooter can be changed with removable panels.
In total, Zeit Eco hope to raise $250,000 to launch their product. The company has already set up an office in New York.
Company president and scooter developer Andrei Doroshkov graduated from Novosibirsk State Technical University in 2005 and now sells nitrous oxide injection systems for drag racing. On his Facebook page he writes that his company is the only manufacturer of such systems in Russia.
The company has made an English-language video to promote the scooter.
