The Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Krasnoyarsk Territory has presented Pussy Riot member Nadezhda Tolokonnikova with documents for her release, according to which she will be covered by the amnesty. She was released on 23 December, Sib.fm’s correspondent discovered.

«BREAKING NEWS. Nadia is free,» read a tweet by art group Voina, who published the first photograph of Tolokonnikova surrounded by journalists.

The member of punk band Pussy Riot, who was serving a prison sentence in the Krasnoyarsk Territory for the crime of «hooliganism», is to be released under an amnesty.

On the morning of 23 December, another band member, Maria Alyokhina, was released. She was serving her term in a prison colony near Nizhny Novgorod. Alyokhina told Interfax that she plans to travel to Krasnoyarsk to meet Tolokonnikova .

To recap, the State Duma supported the amnesty decree on 18 December. Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, like Maria Alyokhina, was sentenced to two years in prison for Pussy Riot’s «punk prayer» in Moscow’s Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. She was transferred to the colony near Krasnoyarsk in November 2013; before her release, the girl was being held in a local prison service clinic.
