Attracting tourists from Novosibirsk — Malaysia’s main objective for 2014
In 2014, Russia is to become a key new tourism parter for Malaysia, located in South-East Asia near Thailand, according to the Malaysian Minister of Tourism. First and foremost, this pertains to tourists from Novosibirsk and the Russian Far East, Sib.fm’s correspondent discovered on 16 January.
«We will focus our efforts on expanding our market share of tourists arriving from Vladivostok and Khabarovsk in the Russian Far East, as well as from Novosibirsk, the administrative centre of the Novosibirsk Region,» said Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, Malaysian Minister of Tourism and Culture, in an interview with Thai newspaper Bangkok Post, talking about his plans for 2014. The minister promised Thailand joint development of the tourism market in South-East Asia.
The minister described Malaysia primarily as a country for family tourism, citing the example of amusement parks, such as Legoland and Hello Kitty Town, as well the shopping industry.

Malaysia plans to present its tourist programmes in Novosibirsk at the TourSib exhibition in the spring, Svetlana Fomenko, Chief Executive of the Novosibirsk Organisation of Tourism Organisations, confirmed to Sib.fm’s correspondent. «They really want to work closely with us,» said Fomenko. However, specific information about the frequency of flights and their cost is not yet available.
