Novosibirsk biathlete Olga Vilukhina brings Russia first silver medal at Olympics
Novosibirsk biathlete Olga Vilukhina won Russia’s first silver medal on 9 February in the biathlon sprint at the Olympic Games in Sochi, reports Sib.fm’s correspondent.
Vilukhina completed the 7.5km biathlon sprint course in 21 minutes 26.7 seconds, 19.9 seconds behind Anastasia Kuzmina, Slovak biathlete born in Russia. Neither Kuzmina nor Vilukhina missed a single target during the shooting.
Third was Ukrainian Vita Semerenko (+21.7 seconds).
This was Russia’s first silver at the Olympics. Skater Olga Graf won Russia first medal on 9 February, finishing third.
