Placebo to perform in Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk and Omsk for the first time in June
British rock band Placebo will perform for the first time in Novosibirsk, Omsk and Krasnoyarsk in June as part of a large-scale Russian tour; ticket prices have not been announced, Sib.fm’s correspondent discovered on 6 March.
British band Placebo are going to play in Novosibirsk’s Sibir Ice Palace on 8 June, the organiser of the band’s tour in Russia, agency PMI, has reported on its page on social network VKontakte.
The dates are also confirmed on the group’s official website. According to PMI, the tour will start on 6 June in Krasnoyarsk (Arena Sever), and continue with concerts in Novosibirsk (Sibir Ice Palace) on 8 June and Omsk (Sports Palace) on 9 June. Then the group will perform in Yekaterinburg, Ufa, Nizhny Novgorod, Krasnodar, Voronezh and St. Petersburg.
Ticket prices for the Siberian concerts are still unknown.
Placebo were formed in 1994. The band has recorded seven albums, been nominated for Brit Awards, ECHO Awards, MTV Europe Music Awards and MTV Video Music Awards, performed at major music festivals Rock Am Ring, Glastonbury, Coachella and iTunes Festival, and collaborated with such artists as David Bowie, The Cure, REM and The Kills. The band’s style is usually characterised as alternative rock.
The concert in Novosibirsk is being organised by production centre Siberian Tours, which has concerts by the Scorpions, Roxette, Nazareth, Apocalyptica, Gary Moore, The Offspring and others under its belt.
The Monsters of Rock festival with Alice Cooper, Scorpions, The Rasmus and Kingdom Come, organised by the agency in 2009, did not take place due to the stage collapsing before the event. In early 2013, Marilyn Manson cancelled his Siberian concerts organised by the production centre without specifying any reasons.
