Korn guitarist records video message in Krasnoyarsk hospital
Brian «Head» Welch, guitarist in American band Korn, was hospitalised on 19 May before a concert in Krasnoyarsk due to kidney problems. The musician will miss the performance in Novosibirsk, where Welsh’s parts will be played by his guitar tech, although he promised to perform «next time», Sib.fm’s correspondent discovered on 20 May.
One of the guitarists in American metal band Korn, Brian «Head» Welch, was hospitalised before their concert at the Sports Palace in Krasnoyarsk on 19 May. Ksenia Peschik, deputy director for PR and advertising at Music City, the organiser of the event, confirmed that the musician was indisposed due to kidney stones, as had already been reported in the media, in a conversation with Sib.fm’s correspondent.
«He’s in hospital and will soon rejoin the tour, but won’t perform in Novosibirsk. His guitar tech played instead of him at the concert in Krasnoyarsk and will take his place in Novosibirsk too. We think that he’ll be able to join the group after the Novosibirsk concert, though it’s impossible to say for sure,» Ksenia Peschik, deputy director for PR and advertising at Music City, told Sib.fm’s correspondent.
The musician recorded a video message in the hospital, in which he apologises for not being able to play at the concert and promises to make it «next time».
Korn are on tour in Russia with US-Brazilian band Soulfly; concerts have already taken place in St. Petersburg, Moscow and Krasnoyarsk. On 20 May, the musicians will perform at the Sibir Ice Arena in Novosibirsk, on 22 May in Yekaterinburg, 23 May — Ufa, 24 May — Nizhny Novgorod, 26 May — Voronezh and 27 May — Rostov. The Russian tour will end on 28 May with a concert in Krasnodar.
