Washington Post compared the Novosibirsk Hockey team’s new ad to Game of Thrones
Novosibirsk hockey team «Sibir» came out with a video advertisement presenting its athletes’ new uniform — the ad resonated with a Washington Post journalist who stated in her article that the commercial may rival with The Game of Thrones opening sequence and placed it in the same category as Tolstoy’s War and Peace, Chaikovsky’s " Swan Lake" and Eisenstein’s Battleship «Potemkin». Our correspondent found out why.
«Leo Tolstoy wrote «War and Peace.» Pyotr Tchaikovsky composed «Swan Lake.» Sergei Eisenstein made «Battleship Potemkin.» And the list of great Russian contributions to the arts goes on. Enter Novosibirsk’s «Sibir» KHL hockey team and its decision to unveil its new 2014-15 uniforms in a video presentation that rivals the opening of «Game of Thrones,» writes Marissa Payne in her article for the Washington Post.
«The brooding music! The mood lighting! The slow-rolling camera cuts! The romantic over-the-shoulder stare of Konstantine Alexeyev at the two-minute, ten second mark! The dramatic pause to highlight the team’s neon-green sponsor Megafon!» Such are the epithets in which the American publication describes the video.
The journalist concludes that «if you didn’t have a favorite KHL team before, you have one now. The only question now is when will the sequel come out?»
Our correspondent found out from the hockey club’s press-center that the video’s author is "Sibir"s operator Sergey Ignatenko.
